From Why We Wrestle:
- JT Talent opened the festivities with a special Summer Of Hate preview edition of the "Talent Show". Before he could even get started Prince Apollo interrupted him informing fans that he had been left off of Summer Of Hate on July 30th and he could not let this slight to his royalty go unanswered. He said he would be in attendance at SOH and The Church will bow to The Prince.
Talent was taken aback but pressed forward and Apollo left. He announced that in addition to the 4 big matches already announced (Heavyweight title, Tag Team Title Tourney Final, Bullrope - Slave vs Leave Town, and Judas v Miller) he was here to reveal the remainder of the Summer Of Hate lineup. Video promos were shown of Anthony Henry preparing for the title match with vigorous training. Stryknyn preparing at The Gathering Of The Juggalos, Jacob Ashworth busting melons with the bullrope/cowbell saying it was going to be Nemesis' head and Nemesis saying Jacob was going to pour his champagne and shine his shoes after 7/30.
Talent said in addition to all of that we'd also see wrestling's only male gymnast Timmy Lou Retton take on "The Incredible Huck" Will Huckaby of The Sound & The Fury, Tag Team division action as The Lynch Mob (Matt and Joey Lynch) will face The Get Along Gang (CB Suave & Marco Polo w Gil Quest) and a match that has been brewing for weeks, also his guests on The Talent Show, "The Real" Slim J vs Kevin Blue.
Both men came out. Talent advised per management we knew this was coming based on previous actions. (Slim beat Blue in a contenders series bout on 6/11, Blue cost Slim his title shot against A Henry on 6/25, Slim stooged off Blue's use if a foreign object in a match against J Ashworth on 7/9, Blue beside himself later tried to return the favor in Slim vs P Apollo but it backfired.) As a result of all this bad blood and that we had to stop all this interference ....neither man could touch each other until 7/30 or the match was off. What followed was one of the most shocking verbal joust sessions in arena history. Things got personal and heated and they escalated quickly. Insults thrown included but were not limited to Blue claiming Slim was protected by the office because his pic was on the wall and he was a golden boy. Slim claiming Blue never showed up for training sessions to better himself and having one of the terrible attitudes that gives his generation a bad name. Blue accusing Slim of being a junkie on meth who lives in a trailer and a prime example of the old guard while Blue had a wife, kids, a mortgage and a bank account. Slim accusing Blue's wife of being a "ring rat" and questioning the paternity of his children and Blue responded by insulting Slim's deceased mother. JT Talent had to stop Slim from knocking Blue out and Blue slithered away. It was announced that both would be in singles competition tonight as Talent tried to calm down Slim.
1) "Wild" Billy Buck def the returning Brandon Parker with the superkick. Post match Jonathan Feltner reminded fans that Buck would team w James Drake to face The Hooligans and The Dark City Fight Club at Summer Of Hate in the finals if the tag title tournament.
2) "The Real" Slim J defeated "The Empbruh" Black Baron in a pure wrestling clinic where both men brought their A game. Baron has had success traveling to places like FIP in FL and Tier One in NY and it looked like he had Slims number on several occasions but the veteran tenacity of Slim prevailed with a quick sunset flip combination that scored the victory.
3) Viking War Party (Alexander Rudolph and Jake Parnell) defeated The Lynch Mob (Matt and Joey Lynch) with the help of a steel chair unseen by the official. This match and the Slim vs Baron match were both contenders for MOTN but the crowd response for these teams may have given this one the slight edge. The VWP brought their unique brand of Nordic violence to the popular brothers Lynch but the sibling tandem from Rossville, GA held their own and even had one of the best tag teams in the US currently in the VWP on the ropes. It looked like The Lynches may pull out the upset but the power of a steel chair swung by the gargantuan Rudolph ended those hopes.
- Intermission-
4 Troy Hunt defeated Kevin Blue via DQ. This wasn't much of a match. Blue was clearly trying to make an example of Slim J's prized pupil Hunt. The second Hunt mounted any real offense...Blue went for a chair and got intentionally DQ'd. He pummeled Troy Hunt viciously post match. Slim came out for the save but was held back by his colleagues Billy Buck and JT Talent as officials pulled Hunt to safety during the chaos. Slim never made contact w Blue so the match is on for 7/30.
5 Prince Apollo vs Josh Crowe
Josh Crowe competes in the Middle TN and Mid Western region primarily including IWA Mid South. He showed a great deal of in ring skill that included crisp fundamentals and innovative offense in his WWW debut. On this night however, The Prince was on a mission to prove he would not be ignored and he racked up another big victory.
6 "The Priest Of Punishment" Mikael Judas defeated Chris Spectra with El Crucifejo in about 5 min. Spectra had been left out in the cold by former Beardos partner Wade Adams (who ditched Spectra to join the SBC) and this was his first appearance since. He looks to have dropped some weight. Spectra had a better showing than expected honestly but Judas is Judas and reminded everyone of that in short order.
A video promo from Jeff G Bailey and Gunner Miller appeared post match. Bailey said he couldn't believe his former friend Judas would try to embarrass him like he did on 7/9 just because he was jealous of Gunner Miller. Bailey promised a CTE as payment at both Summer Of Hate and at The Scenic City Invitational. Judas responded to live crowd saying...A) Bailey was never his friend and B)He was going to beat Gunner in Judas' house, Gunners house and that he hoped someone signed a part 3 because he was going to beat him there as well.
7 The Devil's Rejects ( Se7en and Brad Cash) w Rev Dan Wilson vs The Southern Bastards Crew (Bobby Moore and Wade Adams w Cyrus The Destroyer and Logan Chase III) was declared a double DQ when the ref lost control. The 4 on 3 brawl spilled first outside the ring and then into the audience in a scene of pure pandemonium. WWW matchmaker Dany Only came out to try and get the situation under control. He had his hands full. He finally warned Wilson and Chase to call them off or he'd fire everyone for insurance liability reasons. Only said that he saw some Bikers vs some Satanists and that sounded like a 70s horror movie so we were going to have a Grindhouse match between Rejects and SBC at Summer of Hate. Grindhouse Match = FANS BRING THE WEAPONS was announced to a huge pop.
