From Jeff Richards:
The QUEENS and HER COURT -- Queens of Combat is returning to that lucky little town of Gibsonville, NC on Saturday May 21st for what you could call doubleheader action. There are two shows planned for that day with a 2 PM matinee and a 7 PM event. A special meet and greet VIP experience will be sandwiched in between the two cards. This is in response to a great turnout in Gibsonville on Friday March 18th that saw many new faces and bods in the area. The two show format was recently run in Gibsonville by CHIKARA, so Queens is hoping to duplicate that magic @ the Sportatorium.
Already announced as appearing are QOC Champion Taeler Hendrix. Tessa Blanchard (now booking out of Orlando, FL), Jessika Havok and Candice LeRae. Crowd favorite LuFisto and newcomer Nicole Savoy also are scheduled. Here is where it gets interesting: VIPS sit on the front row, enjoy a meal, and pose for an in-ring photo with LeRae. That ticket runs $81.79 after handling. and you will not be handled by the Queens of Court, I assure you. More economical are the other tickets in general admission which are $21.49 for each session. So, spend $42.98, and you are entitled to many matches and a whole day filled with fantasies.
EWF RE-DEBUTS -- Josh Steinborn's Eastern Wrestling Federation (EWF) ran in Mooresboro, NC this past Saturday (4/23) with a crowd of 138 appearing. The EWF is a softer version of Steinborn's original Hardcore Championship Wrestling, which is now a SC indy. Steinborn worked his last match ever, going over George South Sr. Chad Byrd was South's original opponent who no-showed. Steinborn has been bothered by gout for some time now, and South was adamant about putting him over.
Lots of regional names were in attendance including Chief Jay Eagle (APW), Chris "Thunder" Anderson, Johnny Smooth and Vinnie Valentine. Delta Squad (wearing masks for some reason) won the vacant tag titles over Deon Johnson & Sweet Dreamz. Jay Batista won a 10-man battle royal to become the new EWF Heavyweight Champion. Scheduled to be a 20-man over-the-top-rope event, workers were leaving in droves for various reasons. One may speculate that money may have had something to do with the sudden disappearance of bodies for the main event.
A local school did all the promoting for Steinborn and then kept 80% of the gate. That left the promoter a whole lot of people to pay with just 20% of the gate receipts. As a result, not everyone got paid. We do have one correction to make. The Mooresboro Gym is being rented to Steinborn for $80, not $50. Also in the news, Chris Hamrick is not booking EWF. He actually will be doing a two-hour seminar very soon for Eagle's APW in Boiling Springs, SC.
The SNOOTY ERA HAS BEGUN -- One of CWF Mid-Atlantic's favorite security guards has become a professional wrestler and defeated a former WWE wrestler in his magical debut. Snooty Foxx from Chapel Hill brings the fans in. Put him on a show, and he will tell a maximum number of folks to come on out, and they will listen. This past Saturday (4/23) in Chapel Hill, NC, the official tally was 409. Snooty's (Devon's) opponent was the former Bo Dupp from ECW/WWE/TNA that now works as Otto The Wrestling Machine (Murray Happer).
According to CWF management, the Chapel Hill fans were into everything. For many, it was their first live wrestling event, so it was truly fun for CWF's group. The building (Hargraves Community Center) already is begging CWF Mid-Atlantic for a return date this summer. The organization had wanted to wait until school was back in session, but the rec department wants them sooner. Tickets were high for front row ($25) but cheap for UNC students ($5 with id).
In other mat action, PWI International Heavyweight Champion Ric Converse retained his title with a win over "Ace" Arik Royal. TV Champion Smith Garrett teamed with Rising Generation League Champ Jesse Adler to down Ethan Alexander Sharpe & Number Man. Nick Richards pinned Mecha Mercenary. This is akin to Vader putting over Bill Mulkey. CWF had a potential money-making feud with unbeaten Otto and Mecha (based on a previous attack), but both men lost here. Aaron Biggs squashed Dirty Daddy, and Chet Sterling pinned Aric Andrews.
CWF Mid-Atlantic returns to the Sportatorium in Gibsonville, NC this Saturday (April 30th) for a big main event. One of the competitors in the main event will be decided by a bout earlier in the evening. Ethan Case defends his PWI Ultra J Championship against Cedric Alexander. If Case prevails, look for him to face off with TNA's current X-Division Champion Trevor Lee later. However, if Alexander unseats Case for the belt, then it would be "Kick to Kill" against the CWF Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight kingpin Lee...champion vs. champion. Ten dollar advance tickets are on sale at cwf247.ecwid.com.
