This is a recap of OVW TV Episode 798 that was aired in Louisville on 12/6 and is available online at http://www.ovwrestling.com/tv/798.
This episode was not posted online until Monday night as OVW announced through social media that future episodes taped on Wednesdays would be posted on Mondays, where they were previously posted on Thursdays.
We join OUR OVW Announce Team of "Mean Dean" Hill and "Anchorman" Gilbert Corsey, who is also doing ring announcing, as we venture right into the action!
Match #1: Adam Revolver vs "Diamond Steel" Ryan Howe
Howe plays a solo with his Gibson Sunburst Les Paul guitar while standing on the second turnbuckle. Ref Josh Ashcraft does not seem impressed. Howe immediately tries to set up the Whammy Bar but Revolver recognizes this and makes the ropes. They take turns chopping each other in the corner until Howe slams Revolver and drops a fist on him. Howe climbs up top but Revolver spots this and rolls out. Howe slingshots himself to the apron and kicks Revolver to the floor then rolls him back in. Howe comes off with a Chart Topper try but Revolver dodges it and Howe appears to land awkwardly. Revolver chopblocks Howe and goes into "leg abuse mode", eventually clamping on a figure four. Howe is able to turn (into the pain?) but Revolver grabs the bottom rope. Dean notes that OUR OVW Senior Official Joe Wheeler is out here observing Ashcraft's officiating. Howe gives out an atomic drop and a neckbreaker before climbing on the second turnbuckle. Ashcraft wanders over to have a brief chat, which ends with Howe brushing him aside but whiffing on another Chart Topper. Revolver grabs an ether-less sleeper and takes Howe down to the mat. Ashcraft drops Howe's arm three times and that's that!
Gilbert goes to ringside to interview Revolver and asks him how he can be the number one contender for Cliff Compton's OVW Championship when he used ether (sprayed on a rag) to defeat Mr. Marvelous Melvin Maximus. Revolver hopes Gilbert can back up all these accusations with facts but gets interrupted by a video clip from the back where Compton tells Revolver to shut up and listen! Compton says he is not going to forfeit and the only way Revolver will get the title is to pry it from his cold dead hands! Dr. Asa "OVW Medical Guy" Andrews pops into the picture to cool Compton's jets, saying its doctor’s orders that he's not able to wrestle. Revolver is all geeked up about getting the title via forfeit.
Wheeler is in the back with Ashcraft, telling him it sure seemed strange that his car was getting towed at the same time as last week's main event when Ashcraft just happened to run out and inform him of this, taking over the officiating of the main event. At least Wheeler didn't get all four tires cut. Anyway, Ashcraft says he has great senses about things, which leads Wheeler to ask where these senses were when Revolver used the ether on Melvin. Ashcraft replies that he learned from Wheeler that you can only call what you see! Wheeler says next time Ashcraft doesn't call it down the middle; he's going to be fired!
Match #2: No Class Connection (Deonta Davis & Leon Shelly) vs War Machine (Shiloh Jonze & Eric Locker w/Michael Titus & Marcus Anthony)
Jordan Barker is ref here as War Machine rushes in and attacks! Davis gets beat down before Jonze slings him to the corner and forces Shelly to come to face his peril. Locker slams then suplexes Shelly for 2 but Davis breaks it up and gets suplexed for his trouble. Locker holds up Shelly as Jonze comes off the top with a bulldog. Locker covers Shelly for the pin and there you go.
Titus gets on the mic and promises that is what will happen to Trailer Park Trash at the 12/6 Saturday Night Special thus TPT will not get five minutes alone with him! Titus says War Machine should be tag team champions but they are not, blaming TPT's "buffoonery".
Here's TPT out and he's announcing who will be his partner to face War Machine at SNS. He found a partner who has his back 100% and won't take a payoff from Titus, and it's OUR OVW Owner "Nightmare" Danny Davis! Davis could not say no to TPT and will live up to what OVW fans expect of him, stating his goal as helping run Titus out of town! Davis adds that while he is involved in pursuit of this goal, he will need somebody to run the place and will let Titus know when he is ready.
Match #3: Dapper Dan vs OUR OVW TV Champion Michael (not PS) Hayes
Scruffy Ref is in charge as Dan is all over Hayes to start by pounding away on him. Gilbert lets it out that Dan got this title shot via a victory at an OVW Live Event. Dan misses a splash and Hayes suplexes him for 2 but misses a second rope elbow. Dan hooks him for the deadly German suplex but Hayes drops down to escape then jaw jacks him for the pin.
Here's the Congregation out as Jake Glasure and Jade Dawson try to attack Hayes but are quickly thwarted. Rev. Stuart Miles tries to sneak up from behind but scurries away as Hayes turns to him. Hayes takes the mic and says he's beaten all three of them separately and he's tired of fooling with them, so he'll just take on all 3 at SNS!
The Wild Boyz ("Party Starter" Bud Dwight & "The Teflon Don from Boca Raton" Eddie Diamond) are in the back as Diamond is putting together a guest list for a victory celebration after they win the tag titles at SNS. Elvis Pridemore comes up and Diamond invites him as apparently this is really going to be a wang dang doodle of a party! OUR OVW Tag Team Champions TerreMex (Randy Terrez & "Mexicutioner" Roberto DeLuna) walk up and are taken aback at all this. Terrez calls a "party foul" while DeLuna says something in Spanish that Terrez translates as "we can do this right now!”
Match #4:"Psycho-delic Superstar" Chris Silvio (w/Mary Jane & Security Guy) vs Adam Wylde
Barker is the ref here as Gilbert implies that Wylde's green tights matches his experience level although he was at the head of the class at the OVW Training Academy. Silvio offers a handshake but attacks instead. Wylde dropkicks Silvio, who comes off the ropes with a kick. Wylde comes off the ropes with a crossbody followed by a moonsault for 2 plus. Wylde slips on the ropes as he tries to springboard off and Silvio opens up on him. Silvio comes off the top with a double fist upside the head but Wylde answers with an enziguri. Wylde comes off the ropes but Silvio nails him with the rocket punch for 2 but pulls him up. Mary Jane gets up on the apron to voice her disapproval of Silvio doing this as Silvio pounds away on Wylde. Silvio stops to argue with Mary Jane before kissing her, which allows Wylde to sneak up and schoolboy Silvio for the pin.
Silvio pulls off Mary Jane's glasses and gets all up in her face before she turns and leaves the ring. Security Guy stands at the entrance and refuses to let her leave. Silvio tells her that he was only kidding and would never hurt her. He adds that she has a choice to make as she's with the best wrestler in OVW and one of the best talents in wrestling today. Silvio says his podcast ("The Chris Silvio Show") has two million listeners and he delivers even better when he gets Mary Jane home. He tells her not to listen to the fans or Dean and Gilbert. Silvio says he and Mary Jane are a team, ride or die.
Match #5: Wild Boyz ("Party Starter" Bud Dwight & "The Teflon Don from Boca Raton" Eddie Diamond) vs OUR OVW Tag Team Champions TerreMex (Randy Terrez & "Mexicutioner" Roberto DeLuna)
Ashcraft is the ref for this title match which also happens at SNS. Diamond and Terrez make each other miss moves then DeLuna and Dwight go at it but neither can gain an advantage in this fast-paced match. Terrez drop toeholds Diamond and pulls him into the TerreMex corner for a double hiptoss followed by stereo fistdrops for 2 before Dwight breaks this up. War Machine, followed by Titus and Anthony, run out and attack both teams for the no-contest.
TPT (with what appears to be a red, white, and blue kendo stick) and Davis run out to clear the ring. Davis says he is having a blast tonight! Davis then says he called up an old friend to run things while he is working on "The Titus Elimination Project". Davis introduces Jim Cornette!!!!!
Cornette cracks on Titus before saying that he and Davis are like brothers. Cornette says he is also here because for years, they made OVW into something they could be proud of but now Titus has made a mockery of it. Cornette suggests that the members of Titus Enterprises make other career choices because their futures are very dim!
Gilbert and Dean go over the SNS card (which has already happened by the time you read this) including a Silvio-Wylde rematch, Wild Boyz-TerreMex, Hayes-Congregation, TPT/Davis-War Machine, and possibly Revolver-Compton.
Upcoming events commercial runs but this time Cornette does a voice-over.
Gilbert is in the ring to talk with Dr. Andrews, who has been treating Compton for the last four weeks. Andrews says he understands wrestlers since he has been one himself. He says he has to make sure Compton is OK as Compton's rib injuries really need three months to heal, so there are some challenges here. Compton comes out and says he doesn't care about how many talk shows Andrews has been on or how many star athletes he's treated. Compton says four months ago his goal was to come back to OVW and win the championship since this would be his last run in wrestling. Compton says it's not over until he says it's over (but doesn't ask if it was over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor) and adds that he is ready for Revolver at SNS. Andrews says he has looked at the tests and since he cares about Compton as an athlete, cannot clear him to wrestle at SNS. Andrews says this is for Compton's own good.
Revolver comes out and wants the title belt handed over now! Here comes Cornette back out. Cornette says he understands the fire in Compton's belly but tells him not to let pride overcome common sense. Cornette then tells Compton that if he signs a waiver, he can take on Revolver at SNS. Compton says he is ready to sign and Cornette tells him that he can do that in the back. Compton and Revolver staredown as the show goes off.
THOUGHTS: Of course, SNS has already taken place with the two big things happening being Revolver winning the title and Titus avoiding the five minutes with TPT. For some reason, I'd like to see the payoff being Titus getting his head shaved. I'd love seeing Cornette back in here, even if only part-time. As far as a go-home show for SNS, this delivered as everything on this episode set up the upper card for SNS. That being said, Silvio is the most intrigung character on here right now and look forward to see where that goes over the coming weeks. Overall, this was an easy show to watch, so I'll give it a thumbs up.
